Port Washington Trip

Once again, Eileen has pulled off a successful field trip for us.  We visited Cedarburg for touristing and shopping, then enjoyed a wonderful dinner and show at "Memories" in Port Washington.  Hats off to Eileen for all the work she puts into organizing these trips (and all the joy she takes in trying to make 50 people happy).  Thank you!

  1. I'm sorry to do it this way, but I'm trying and failing to find any sort of working, general email contact for your organization.

Here's the message that bounced to its most recent recipient:

I am the new curator for the UWSP herbarium (botany research collection), which we have just moved to the new Chemistry and Biology Building. The herbarium has quite a large collection of books and periodicals, and while we have bookcases in the new space, our shelf space is slightly less than it was in the old building. This prompted some careful consideration of what items we most need and value, and what items it's time to discard. In short, we have quite a few boxes of books (mostly, but not entirely, related to biology, natural history, or other related sciences) and several series of magazines (including a complete run of National Geographic going back to the 1930s--the older volumes are bound by year).

It pains all of the herbarium-affiliated staff to see so many books headed to the dumpsters, and we are trying to find new homes for at least some items. If SPARTA would be at all interested in donations from us--or at least seeing what we have--please let me know. We need to get the new herbarium library organized and functional by the end of the month, so our time frame is somewhat limited.

    Thanks,

    Stephanie
